When to Change an Employee's Status

This function should be used in the following instances:

  • If an employee changes from one status to another.  For example if an employee changes from active to retiree or from active to Cobra.
  • If the Status is terminated, all active coverage will be terminated automatically.  If a new status is added, the employee must elect all new coverages for that status.
  • If a new status is added before the current status is terminated, an alert will appear notifying the administrator that more than one job status is overlapping.  The administrator will be prompted to terminate the current status before adding the new status.
